IDT High Definition Audio ability that has totally works in HP Pavilion DV5-1157ca could be the one impressive thing. And the good one, you can modify them by your own self. What you need to do is a little modified file on Info.plist’s from AppleHDAController.kext and AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext plugins which you can get from a Leopard 10.5.6 AppleHDA.kext vanilla kext. Even you need no hex edit was necessary. Just for notice, the only driver you can use in this project is HDAEnabler.kext provided in this package

In order to get fully working HP Pavillon DV5-1157ca IDT audio kext, you need to make sure all inputs and outputs were listed in the computer System Information after modified the PinConfiguration parameter in Info.plist. This requirement can be filled by get rid of the “sound assertion” error messages and then test the input/output available through the HP expansion port.

My friend has just bought Dell Inspiron 1440 that comes without any operating system. When he tried for installing microsoft Windows XP, he got same problem. Official Dell site doesn’t provide Drivers and utilities CD, there is only Windows Vista support available. He really confuce, especially when he tried installing IDT high-definition Audio codec.

When he tried, some drivers from softpedia here, it doesn’t work. He found error message pop-up such as device status shows error “This device cannot start(Code10)“.

If You have same problem, you may have to install this driver, this IDT high definition audio codec will works in Dell Inspiron 1440, especially for Windows XP.
